The silent cry
(Large Print)
In Victorian London, two middle-class men -- a solicitor and his adult son -- are discovered in a decidedly lower-class part of town: the father is dead, and the son, Rhys, has been so badly beaten that he can't speak. Former Crimean War nurse Hester Latterly takes care of Rhys, and her sometime-beau, PI William Monk, discovers a link between the two men and a case he's working on involving the brutal rapes of factory workers moonlighting as prostitutes.
